8ste eeuw: De hisn Mistasa ontleent zijn naam aan de berbergroep Mistasa, een sub-stam van de Wazdaja (tak van de Baranis). 

10de eeuw: Vermelding als onderdeel van de kurah Fahs al-Ballut. Mistasa is ook een iqlim (district) binnen de kurah.

1086: Verovering van Mestanza door Alfons VI van Castilië (1072-1109), León (1065-1109), Galicië en Portugal (1073-1109).
