914: Abd ar-Rahman III, emir/kalief van Córdoba (912/29-961) laat op de fundamenten van een Visigotisch bouwwerk de hisn Fatetar (Castillo de Espera) bouwen. Kasteelheer is Jamil Uqba al-Balawi.

1251/55: De exacte datum van de christelijke verovering is onduidelijk; of door koning Alfons X van Castilië-León (1252-1284) in 1251 of door koning Ferdinand III van Castilië (1217-1252) en León (1230-1252) in 1255.

1299: Koning Ferdinand IV van Castilië-León (1295-1312) geeft het kasteel en de plaats aan Juan Arias de Quadro.
